Edible Rainbow Pasta

I love rainbows. I especially love rainbow food. If I can find a way to make my food into a rainbow, I will always do it.  This is one of my favorites!

  What you will need:

  • Pasta
  • Food coloring
  • Mixing bowls for each color you want to make

Start by boiling your pasta as usual.

If you want to make the pasta the same color, you can add food coloring to the boiling water when it has about 5 mins left. If you do it this way you’ll need to use at least 5-10 drops of color-depending on how much water is in the pot.

After your pasta is cooked, use a ladle and place 1-2 ladles of hot water into the mixing bowls(depending on bowl size and amount of pasta).  Add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl of hot water and mix until water is completely dyed.

*Creating purple:use 2 drops of red and 1 of blue.
This will help give you more of a purple color instead of gray*

*The normal color of pasta is a yellow color, so you don’t have to (but can) use yellow, you can just leave the pasta as is*

Drain your pasta. Scoop pasta into each bowl. Soak pasta in dyed water for a few mins. If the pasta isn’t completely submerged in the water, be sure to stir often.  Depending on how long you soak your pasta, you may need to put the bowl in the microwave for a min to reheat.

After your pasta has been stained to the color you want simply dump the bowl of dye and pasta into a strainer. Right on top of each other is fine.  Give it a toss and you have rainbow pasta.

Butter Noodles:

Mix butter and parmesan cheese into the pasta.  Amount all depends on what you like!  Add a pinch of salt (optional) and your are ready to go!

I hope you love creating this rainbow as much as I do!

Thanks for stopping by and keep on crafting!
